Vermox Liquid Suspension 30ml — Mebendazole 100mg/5ml for Children
Vermox Liquid Suspension contains mebendazole 100mg per 5ml — the same active ingredient as Vermox Tablets, in a liquid format that is easier for young children or those who cannot swallow tablets. Each 5ml dose provides the full single treatment dose of 100mg mebendazole for threadworm infection. One bottle of 30ml contains 6 doses — sufficient to treat a whole family of up to 6 people simultaneously.
Mebendazole prevents threadworms from absorbing glucose, causing them to die within a few days and be naturally expelled from the body. As with all threadworm treatment, all household members should be treated simultaneously on the same day to prevent reinfection.
Key Features
- Mebendazole 100mg per 5ml — standard single-dose treatment
- Liquid format — easier to administer to young children than tablets
- 30ml bottle — 6 doses for whole-family simultaneous treatment
- Suitable for children aged 2 and over and adults
- Available without prescription from Chemco Pharmacy
- Also available: Vermox 100mg Tablets 6 Pack for older children and adults who can swallow tablets
How to Use
Shake the bottle well before use. Adults and children aged 2 and over: 5ml (one dose) as a single treatment. Administer using the measuring spoon or syringe provided. Treat all household members on the same day. A second dose may be given after 2 weeks if reinfection is a concern. Follow with strict hygiene measures — wash bedding, towels and nightwear, clean surfaces and wash hands thoroughly before meals and after the toilet.
Pharmacy medicine. Not suitable for children under 2. Not for use in the first trimester of pregnancy. If pregnant or breastfeeding, speak with your pharmacist or GP before use. Always read the patient information leaflet before use.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I give Vermox Liquid to a 2-year-old?
Yes. Vermox Liquid Suspension is suitable for children aged 2 and over. It is the preferred formulation for young children who cannot safely swallow or chew tablets. For children under 2 years of age, threadworm treatment should be prescribed by a GP — do not use Vermox in children under 2 without medical advice.
What is the difference between Vermox Liquid and Vermox Tablets?
Both contain mebendazole 100mg per dose and are therapeutically identical. The liquid is easier to administer to young children or those who have difficulty with tablets. Older children (typically aged 5 and over) who can chew or swallow a tablet may prefer the Vermox Tablets. The 6-tablet pack and the 30ml liquid both contain 6 doses — sufficient for a whole family of up to 6 people. Both are available from Chemco Pharmacy.
